Gendering Africa: Musical Perspectives, an on-line Symposium, is set to take place March 4th, 2022 at 10 AM EST. The symposium, co-organized by Althea SullyCole, Dr. Ruth Opara, Shirley Chikukwa and Columbia’s Center for Ethnomusicology, enters the perspectives of African and African-descended women ethnomusicologists and performers in the on-going conversation concerning gender and music.
